PROMENADE is an installation of two folded mirrors, positioned face to face in the niches of the bedrooms. Taking the Le Corbusier principle of discovering architecture by walking, the mirrors create a changing collage of room. The visitor plays with the symmetrical architecture of the bedrooms and the different colors of the walls.
ECAL masters class was invited to develop and present an exhibition of objects designed for an apartment in Le Corbusier's legendary Cité Radieuse. The work was developed specifically for Appartement 50, the preserved and protected apartment within the Unité d’Habitation in Marseille, France. We began with vast research of Le Corbusier's work and life, and in the fall of 2014, we visited the monumental building. The pieces were exhibited during the summer of 2015 in the original apartment.
